The Program runs from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Student and family/guests check-in is located in the Sports Arena Lobby. See below for details. Additionally, students must stay for the entire program to receive credit for attendance.
At Buffalo State, all newly matriculated students are required to attend Orientation prior to the start of classes.
Check-in for all students family members and guests will run from 7:30-8:15 a.m. in the Sports Arena Lobby.
At Buffalo State, advisement is mandatory for all incoming students. You are responsible for making sure you get advised by your department faculty.
Each department has its own summer advisement plan. Please make arrangements to obtain advisement per your department's summer advisement plan.
Before you can register for classes, you must complete the Transfer Pre-Advisement Tutorial.
After completing this workshop, you will receive the alternate pin necessary for your course registration in Banner.
Note: Some departments may place a different alternate pin on your registration. To access your account, your alternate pin will be given to you during your advisement session. Please contact your department if you have questions.
If you are interested in changing your major prior to registering for courses, please contact the Admissions Office.
If you are interested in changing your major after you have registered for courses, please contact department of your desired major.
If you will be residing on campus for the Fall 2014 semester, you will be able to move into your housing assignment on Thursday, August 21, 2014.

To sign up for the Make-Up Session, email orientat@buffalostate from your Buffalo State email account with your name, Banner number, and state you are requesting to attend the Make-Up Session on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The Orientation program provides programs, events, and information that create a common experience and promote school spirit by connecting students to each other and fostering student learning and development both in and out of the classroom.

■ Take care of any Weigel Health Center holds (for immunizations or health insurance)
■ Send in your final official high school and/or college transcripts to the Admissions Office
Apply for your Student ID card online and get $2 in free printing
■ Refer to the Transfer Student Checklist on the Admissions website for items to complete prior to your arrival at Buffalo State
There is a mandatory orientation charge of $60 for transfer students. This fee cannot be waived. Please make your payment directly to the Orientation and New Student Programs Office.
Family members and guests
There is a Family/Guest Orientation Program that runs concurrent with the student program. The cost of attendance is $50 per family member or guest. Please make your payment directly to the Orientation and New Student Programs Office.
Please note that the orientation charge is used to cover the cost of the Buffalo State orientation program. This includes the use of facilites, student publications, materials, food and staffing.
